Ulrich Riehl

In Bonn geboren, erhielt er mit 8 Jahren seinen ersten Trompetenunterricht. Wenige Jahre später wurde er Preisträger nationaler und europäischer Wettbewerbe. Das Studium führte ihn nach Köln, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Berlin und Paris. Als Stipendiat der Herbert-von-Karajan-Stiftung spielte er bei den Berliner Philharmonikern.

Seit 2002 ist er Mitglied des Orchesters der Deutschen Oper Berlin.

Neben seiner Orchestertätigkeit und Solistenkarriere widmet er sich auch dem Dirigierstudium. Wichtige Impulse erhält er hierbei besonders durch Pierre Boulez und Jorma Panula. 2008 wurde er Chefdirigent des Orchesters BerlinClassicPlayers und künstlerischer Leiter der Konzertreihe in der Philharmonie Berlin.

Es folgten Einladungen zu Gastdirigaten nach China, Serbien, Spanien, Italien, Rumänien, Lettland u.a.

Ulrich Riehl, Artistic Director

Ulrich Riehl is the chief conductor and artistic director of the renowned BerlinClassicPlayers Orchestra and its popular and versatile concert series in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. The well-known French composer and conductor Pierre Boulez suggested the foundation of the orchestra.

The BerlinClassicPlayers Orchestra has enjoyed great popularity from its first performances in 2007/8 and quickly established a firm position in the Berlin concert life. The orchestra plays monthly; its repertoire includes works from the Baroque to the Romantic periods: symphonies, arias, concertos for piano, string and wind instruments, choral works and operas. Apart from the concert series in the Philharmonic Hall the orchestra is invited to participate in festivals, open air events, anniversary, new year´s and charity concerts. It also gives performances outside Berlin.

Young soloists - upcoming and established - from Germany and abroad are presented in the concerts and have successfully integrated into the refreshing and at the same time refined sound of the BerlinClassicPlayers Orchestra and the excellent acoustics of the Philharmonic Hall.
